In flyball your dog will receive great exercise and mental stimulation, and have more fun than ever before. He doesn’t know the difference between practice and a tournament, other than tournaments have unfamiliar dogs and his master is very excited. Your dog is having fun just running the course and pleasing you, not necessarily noticing that he is even racing against another team and another dog. (more…)

Touch N Go from Las Vegas, the world’s fastest flyball team, came to share their expertise with our team, Ballistic Racers. It was an all day affair at Skydance Ranch in Oceanside, California, on a Saturday which was warmer than usual. With their three trainers and one helper, Touch N Go dealt with many issues. Several landmark accomplishments were met as our dogs made vast improvements. Katy, Nadine, and Stephanie, used their expert techniques to individualize instruction, helping each dog to be the best it could be.

Well, even a dog athlete needs a little time off. Indie and his human pack along with his Bengal cat sister, Bandit, visited Lake Arrowhead near Los Angeles for a couple of days. Indie has definitely enjoyed his boat ride and has had no fear of the big water. His face says it all: “Woof, it’s good to be me”
life is good

Our Ballistic Racers Flyball Team is celebrating its second anniversary. In the Flyball world, this is a very short time. For our team however, there have been monumental accomplishments made! In the fall of 2007 we started our team with only four (more…)

Vegas or Vegie is a rescue split faced border collie who is a flyball fanatic. She and her mom Joanne, have been racing in flyball for seven years and hold numerous titles. Vegie loves flyball more that anything else in the world. She usually is in the start dog position and smiling as she clears the jumps. She enjoys walks, playing frisbee and likes to ride in the car. She recently took up swimming which she enjoys immensely. Vegie has great flyball skills and is the border collie on our team logo.

Coco the mini poodle is not only a flyball dog, but quite a performer. She is still learning the sport, but always looking for applause whenever she can get it. A brief pause at the box, a look to the right as she goes over a jump, or a prance at the finish line are all good places for little Coco to get extra recognition. Coco is fast, loves to play flyball and visiting her flyball friends. She and her parents, Erich and Sara make up a great flyball family.

For many years water therapy (hydrotherapy) has been used with horses. While it provides all of the same benefits for dogs, it has only caught on in the canine arena over the last ten years. “Canine Water Therapy” is now recognized throughout the world as a beneficial modality for fitness, physical and psychological rehabilitation.

On May 23rd and 24th, 2009, Ballistic Racers participated in the U-FLI flyball tournament held in Ramona. It was a very successful tournament with six dogs making their debuts.

On Saturday, Indie, Bailey, Dennis, Molly, Sasha, Chloe and Jessie all ran singles races. One of the best aspects of the U-FLI tournaments, is the singles racing. Singles allows new dogs that may not be quite ready for the team relay to still race. It’s a great way for novice dogs to get their feet wet without affecting or being affected by the pressure of team racing

On Sunday, Dennis ran with the team consisting of Zippy, Blast, Makaso, Rex, Herbie and Remy. Bailey and Indie ran pairs, while Molly, Jessie, Sasha, Chloe, and Jag ran singles.

It was fun and exciting to see so many new dogs doing so well.
